Throughout July, August and September, tickets can be pre-purchased online before arrival.

Entrance in August can ONLY be with pre-purchased online tickets.

Due to high demand and limited availability, it is strongly advised to book early.

Timeslots are available, 7 days a week, from 10am-4pm, in half-hour intervals.

Once you have arrived, your entrance ticket is valid for the rest of the day, allowing you time to explore and enjoy all Tropical Birdland has to offer.

Admission

PURCHASING YOUR TICKET

Admission, during less busy times of the year, is by purchasing a ticket on arrival at the entrance gate. We accept most major credit/debit cards and cash.

During July, August and September, you can pre-purchase your entrance ticket online through our website or seetickets.com. Online payments can be made with Paypal and most major credit/debit cards.

AUGUST entrance tickets will not be available for purchase on the day.
Admission will be by pre-purchased online ticket only. 

Your online ticket will be issued via email - please have your ticket ready on arrival, printed or on your device.   

Release dates for our online ticket sales are advertised through our social media accounts and on our website.

As accessible positions are limited, we need to ensure that tickets reach the people that need them.  To help us ensure that these tickets are made available to those with these genuine needs, proof of disability is required when purchasing a carer’s ticket.

Please note that some treats we sell contain peanuts and walnuts; however, you can purchase nut-free alternatives, so everyone can enjoy feeding our wonderful birds and animals.

Please note that we sell parrot treats that contain peanuts and walnuts. Alternative treats such at fruit are readily available to purchase, so everyone can enjoy feeding our wonderful birds.o

By Car

From M1 get off at junction 22, on roundabout take the A50 signed towards Markfield. We have brown Tourism signs thereafter. From the M69 go to the end then take M1 North and get off at junction 21a. Follow the signs to Kirby Muxloe and just before you reach Kirby Muxloe you will see signs to Desford. In Desford, continue up to the mini island and turn right down Main Street. Follow the sharp bend left and then take 1st right down Lindridge Lane towards Merrylees. Tropical Birdland’s entrance is on the left hand side. There are brown Tourism signs located in Desford village and also on the A47 Hinckley Road, Leicester and A50 Markfield island in Leicester

By Bus

Arriva Bus route 153 (Market Bosworth) runs from st margaret's bus station in Leicester City Centre. This route runs through the village of Desford with the bus stop located on Manor Road, opposite Desford Library. Tropical Birdland is located on Lindridge Lane, a 10 minute walk from the bus stop. On departing the bus, cross Manor Road and head down Main Street (past the Library) until you reach the Co-op. Lindridge Lane is opposite and you will need to follow this downhill (for approximately 100 yards) where you will see the entrance to Tropical Birdland on your right. Please note that Lindridge Lane is a country road and is on a steep incline.

Yes, We sell a mixed array of treats which can be fed to all our feathered friends, please be aware that their favourite treats are peanuts and walnuts

Unfortunately, no dogs aren’t allowed into the park, this also means assistance dogs as our birds will become very scared and stressed around your four-legged friend.

We have compacted gravel pathways which are suitable for wheelchairs, however the woodland walk is not Suitable due to tree branches and roots across the paths. Our toilets are also wheelchair friendly.

Yes, We are open everyday including all bank holidays.

Yes, we have baby changing facilities at our car park toilets.

Yes, parking is free to all Birdland customers.

We are an outdoor attraction so dress weather appropriate. On rainy days consider wearing welly boots as it can get a little muddy.

Yes, we have a café on site. open every day, serving hot and cold food. Last food orders are 1 hour before the park closes. Check out the menu here.

Yes, we have a picnic area situated near the children’s play area some of which is under cover, also you can find some under covered panic benches next to our flamingos.
